Manages and coordinates the activities and operations of the marketing department and staff; develops and executes marketing campaigns and strategies for all museum exhibitions and programming, member groups, and visitor amenities; supports the Museum’s mission by promoting revenue-earning activities


Duties and Responsibilities

·         Develops, implements and manages marketing campaigns and strategies across all platforms to increase awareness of and engagement with OKCMOA brand, exhibitions, films, public programs, membership categories, and visitor amenities

·         Creates and oversees marketing department budget

·         Supervises marketing and communications staff, working closely with direct reports to ensure that the Museum presents clear, factual and engaging information across various platforms

·         Maintains consistent brand image throughout all marketing and promotional materials and product lines

·         With marketing and communications staff, creates and schedules weekly and monthly Museum newsletters

·         Makes pitches to news outlets to promote Museum programming and other initiatives

·         Provides editorial oversight of internal and external communications

·         Crafts emergency response communications for internal and external use

·         Oversees website management and maintenance including written and digital content, SEO optimization, and tracking analytics

·         Presents at quarterly marketing committee meetings, working closely with committee chair

·         Implements and maintains procedures that enhance the quality and efficiency of internal and external Museum communications

·         Supervises creation of Museum signage

·         Manages and coordinates with contractors such as graphic designers, photographers, videographers, web designers or creative firms

·         Collects and analyzes market research and audience demographics to gauge effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts; makes data-driven strategic or tactical adjustments as needed

·         Develop and maintain professional relationships with marketing and communication professionals, art writers and critics to ensure OKCMOA messages reach audiences across the state

·         Performs other related duties as assigned by management




·         Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent

·         3 to 5 years related experience required

·         Excellent verbal and written communication and oral presentation skills

·         Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills

·         Demonstrated ability to plan and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines

·         Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates

·         Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks

·         Proficient on MS Office, WordPress and experience with Adobe preferred
